Terms of Use & Sale
Effective date: 26 August 2026 · These terms govern your use of practicestandard.ca and your purchase of any Practice Standard product.
1. Who we are — and who we are not
This website and the products sold on it are owned and operated by 2510812 Ontario Inc., operating as Practice Standard ("we," "us"). We are not a law firm. We do not practise law, provide legal services, or give legal advice. Practice Standard is a separate corporation from, and is not part of, any law practice or therapy practice operated by its founder, and no product sold here is a service of any such practice.
2. What you are buying — and what you are not
Practice Standard products are template documents and related informational materials prepared for general use by regulated professionals. Your purchase is the purchase of a template product. It is not the purchase of legal services or legal advice, and no lawyer-client relationship is formed between you and anyone — including the lawyer who authored the documents — by purchasing, downloading, reading, or using them.
The documents state general requirements as at their version date and cannot account for your particular circumstances. You are responsible for reviewing each document, adapting it to your practice, and satisfying yourself that it meets your obligations. For advice about a specific situation, consult a lawyer retained by you.
3. Licence
Your purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use, adapt, and reproduce the documents within your own practice (including use with your own clients). You may not resell, redistribute, share, publish, or otherwise make the documents available to any other practitioner or business, whether modified or not. A clinic or group practice requires one licence per practitioner using the documents; group licensing is available on request.
4. Updates
Your purchase includes update deliveries for 12 months from the purchase date: when a rule mapped in your documents changes materially, we deliver a revised document and an explanatory note to the email address on your order. Updates depend on you maintaining a working email address with us. After 12 months, continued updates are available as an optional paid renewal at the then-current price. We do not guarantee that updates will be issued within any particular time of a rule change, though promptness is the point of the service.
5. Delivery and refunds
Products are delivered electronically to the email address provided at checkout, normally within one business day of payment. Because the products are digital documents that cannot be returned, refunds are available within 14 days of delivery if you are unsatisfied — email us and tell us why; deletion of your copies is a condition of the refund.
6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The products are provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, other than those that cannot be excluded. Nothing on this site or in the products is a guarantee of regulatory compliance, audit outcome, or legal result; regulatory obligations are yours and outcomes depend on facts and conduct beyond the documents themselves.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability in connection with any product or this site is limited to the amount you paid for the product, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including lost income, lost data, or regulatory penalties.
7. Intellectual property
The documents, site content, and Practice Standard name and branding are the property of 2510812 Ontario Inc. and its licensors. Except for the licence in section 3, no rights are granted.
8. Acceptable use of this site
You agree not to misuse this site, interfere with its operation, or attempt to access materials you have not purchased.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and you agree that the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from them. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer-protection legislation that cannot be waived.
10. Changes
We may update these terms; the version in force at the time of your purchase governs that purchase. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
